Day 407

Today, we saw a wild rabbit in our back yard. I love it's amazing eyebrows and overall adorableness. I took a short video of the rabbit, and a squirrel. I don't normally film things and I have no clue how to edit videos, so be thankful it's short.

Day 358

While I was photographing the white azaleas yesterday, I noticed the creek run off was full of leaves and reflected the trees nicely. Today, I went back and took photos of it.

This is the last stop motion film of this project. They have been great to make. I'll definitely make more in the future, but of other things.

Day 289

Today, Hurricane Irene brought us a tropical storm! It was scary to watch the largest tree sway around in a 20 foot radius! Thankfully, we know that trees don't get that large without being strong. It's nestled with several other tall trees. I took photos from safely inside my house. We are supposed to stay away from windows during the storm, but honestly, it wasn't that impressive of a storm compared to others that we've had. However, it knocked out the power lines in mass for several day. This my friends, it a back dated post. We didn't have power from Saturday night until Thursday evening. I frantically had to use my parents house, Friendly's and Noah Scalin's house during that time to recharge electronics and access the internet for my business. Craziness! Ok, on to the photos and videos!

Day 244

Today we went to a friend's house for lunch. She has an extensive garden. While I wondered around it, I took photos.

Today, we had more rain. I stayed indoors and took more photos from my living room window.

I thought this one looked like a bunny or a dachshund.

While the rain was falling, I took some photos of the trees that are right outside of the living room window.

Day 106

Today, the wind was blowing the trees strongly and the clouds were moving quickly. During the day, I took a still photo and many photos to make a couple stop motion movies of the wind moving the trees and clouds.

This is while the wind was blowing. A bird was flying around. I was lucky enough to take a photo of it.

To better show how the wind effected the trees and clouds, I made two stop motion movies.

Later in the day, taking advantage of the bright sunlight, I took a photo of my long shadow. You can't see defined legs, because I was wearing a long skirt.

This is the sun blazing through the trees. Notice, the clouds have moved away.

In the evening, we all headed out to a friend's house for dinner.

On the way we stopped at a bakery for fancy breads. John went inside to buy the bread. Alex and I waited at the car. I took a photo of the pretty sunset with the cloud free sky.

Day 100

Yay, I've reached 100 days!!!! This is a photo heavy post, but that is sort of fitting. I'm making them a large size, but if you click on the photos, you will see a much large size. If there are errors with this many photos showing, please let me know.

John surprised Alex and I with a trip to Pony Pasture today. Pony Pasture is a stop along the James River. You can walk along the banks on paths. There are also areas you can climb on rocks to get closer to the water. This is great in the summer and also great if you are like me, and want to take photos. Today, there were a lot of ducks. They were very friendly and were comfortable coming close. Of course, I'm quiet and let them do what ever they want. Alex however, is loud and kept quacking at them, so I made her go play with John instead of duck watching with me. She kept making them swim away. Anyway, to start, here are a lot of duck photos and a couple stop motion movies.

This duck loved to sit on this rock. He would swim around and then waddle up on the rock.

Ducks swimming. This is a bit down river. You can also see a seagull flying. There were hundreds of them sitting on the rocks.

A bit further up river, where the rock loving duck was, there was a female one. In this photo, she is eating from the bottom of the river.

The two males were fighting over the female. Tis' the season I suppose. Their quacking made Alex quack.

The three ducks had swam around this large rock. They used the rapids to get back over to the area they mostly stayed in. It was amusing to watch them go down the rapids.

These are some rapids. I thought a stop motion movie would show their rhythm well. 

I liked the striped in this fallen tree.

This is an overgrown bridge.

Before we got to Pony Pasture, we headed over the Huguenot bridge. I was a passenger, so I got to take photos of the beautiful river.

Heading the other way on the bridge, I took a photo of the trees lining the train tracks.

These are my two helpers. Alex (the human) helps me detect pretty sunrises. Pippi (the cat) helps me detect birds, squirrels and moths.
