Day 404 - Easter

Today was Easter, so we went to my parents' house for lunch. While Alex was hunting for eggs, I took photos in the back yard.

Day 284

I have kitty duty this week, so I took some photos at my parents' house of their foliage.

The ferns on my hill have sprouted yellow flowers.

We went to lunch at Mi Hacenda. They have beautiful roses there, so I brought my camera along.

At home, I noticed this ant on a camellia leaf.

New camellia leaves are sprouting.

Day 252

Today, I went outside to take photos only to be greeted with a wet fogged lens when I took off the cap. The humidity was so high, that the lens kept fogging. After taking a few unusual shots of the hill using the fogged lens, I retreated to my car to take clearer shots...but through a dirty windshield.

Day 177

Today we woke to a thick fog. After a few hours, the fog started to lift.

This is at about 9:45am.

Since, rain ruined our fun yesterday, we headed back to Brookgreen Gardens today. We focused on the garden area.

Ferns are growing on the break of the oak trees.

The squirrels here are larger than the ones at home.

These flowers varied in colors.

I love how the thick leaves of this plant cradled the water from the rain and created rounded drops.

These vines were growing through each hole of this wall.

Ivy was growing all over the bottom of this tree meeting the Spanish moss from the top of the tree.

There was a whole section of trees like this.

Many fountains and pools of water had water lilies and pads growing in them.

Last year, we visited in August and there were HUGE grasshoppers there, called lubbers. This year, we visiting in May and the lubbers were still tiny. However, we found them in large clusters.

Bubbles occurred naturally from a small waterfall.

There were several turtles on this circle. I liked the turtle with it's feet dangling and the one with it's feet tucked in. John and Alex let me take lots of photos of the turtles, close to the pond, before reading the "Beware of alligators and snakes" sign. Thankfully, we saw none of those.

Day 171

Today, we drove to Saint Augustine, FL and to Orlando, FL.

There are many marshes along the southern coast.

The clouds were fluffy and abundant. Yet, the weren't any storms, which is different than where we live.

While walking around historic Saint Augustine, I took lots of photos. There are lot of private gardens by shops and a fort to explore.

These were in the garden of Columbia.

These white flower vines were growing along the front of a cafe.

We went to explore the fort. This is the a view of the river beside the fort wall.

These are plants growing the the top of the fort wall. You can walk and sit on the wall. The wall is made from cement and oyster shells.

There were a few plants growing in the shallow water along the river.

There were pigeons on the fort wall.

The tide was crashing along the sand of the fort wall.

After sitting on the fort wall for a bit, we walked across the field on the way to our car.

There were a few pretty wild plants growing.

When we got to Orlando, we went in search of food. We went to Downtown Disney. I was exhausted by now and the overwhelming amount of people took the last of my energy. I relaxed outside while John and Alex got dinner.
