Day 167

Today, I took photos of the baseball field of Alex's school, as she ran around the track before school started.

The field was covered with buttercups.

There were a few dandelions...

...and clovers.

This is blurry, but I like the impressionist feel that it gives to the field of buttercups.

This photo, there is a cluster of buttercups that were focused on.

Day 164 - Easter

Today is Easter.

I started the morning with a blazing sunrise through the trees.

For brunch, we went to John's parents' house. While the girls were making us look for Easter eggs, I took some photos of plants around their house.

Dandelions

Silver maple tree seeds

Purple pansies

These green blooms had lots of tiny red insects on them, and for a bit, this fly.

This vine with purple flowers creeps up the light pole.

They have a huge bush beside their house. It's covered in red blooms that in various states of decay. John's mom said it's a camellia bush. It's definitely a different variety than ours.

For linner (lunch/dinner) and to celebrate my younger brother's b-day, we went to my parents' house.

This tiny purple butterfly was resting on the soil beside our car.

A healthy hibiscus plant is blooming on their back porch.

The sun was beating down on the back porch.

In the front yard, was a patch of clover.

This azalea still has healthy blooms.

The sun was so bright, that the leaves were a bright green.

Day 147

Today, I took photos while Alex and the neighbor girl played and learned about different nature things.

The blooms on the white Dogwood tree finally opened fully.

These white flowers are high up on this tree.

The red Tulip by the bus stop, opened up. I love the contrast of the colors inside.

The girls and I were impressed with this ant carrying a flower bud.

These are two huge black bees flying high up. The ripples are due to this photo being taken through my 40 year old vaulted living room window.

Day 141

Today was overcast. I finished come errands before meeting my best friend in the evening, so we could leave for our trip in the morning.

I went to the grocery store to buy some lunch for today and breakfast for Sunday.

The maple trees were covered with red helicopter seeds. I call them helicopter seeds because if you drop one from high up, they will spin down like a helicopter propeller

A view of a branch with helicopter seeds.

Another close up of the seeds.

There were trees with yellow blooms, bundled up for sale, outside of the grocery store.

These white petals had fallen off of the trees at the post office.

This non-bloomed dandelion was amongst the fallen petals.

On the way to my best friend's house, the sun was setting between the trees near her house.

Day 129

Today, I wanted to try out my new camera in some old and new ways.

I like taking photos of the sun. This is the sun back-lighting the Holly tree. This is much clearer than with the old camera, though I still like the bleeding white style too.

We went to the city to have brunch with friends.

This is a Magnolia tree.

After brunch, John, Alex and I went to the Mayo Bridge to take photos.

I think these are Dandelions before blooming.

This is a panoramic view of the city, James River and Mayo Bridge from a river wall. The man on the right, is my husband. Click on the photo to see a much clearer and larger photo.

These were buds from a tree in the center of the ramp to get to and from the wall.

This is a panoramic view of the James River, Mayo Bridge and the city, from the Mayo Bridge. Again, you can see a larger photo, if you click on this photo.

If you look in the above photo, to the left right beyond the wall, there are birds on a rock. My camera is so powerful, that when I zoomed in on the birds, I was able to take this rather clear photo of them. I couldn't see this amount of detail normally.

These are the rapids behind the birds.

There was an field with many of these dead plants.

After the bridge, we went to my parents' house to pick up something and show my dad the new camera. John pointed out this cardinal. I took it this photo through a glass door and screen, so it's blurry. I wasn't able to try for a clearer photo, before the bird few away.

Alex and I waited in the car while John bought some groceries. I took this photo of the white blooming trees and this pretty cloud.

At our house, I noticed these plants had started to grow again. They are odd and one of my favorite wild plants that grow on our hill.

Day 121

Today started with brunch and a festival in the city.

John was driving, so I was able to take photos from my window.

There were many birds on the power lines at an intersection.

Because of the rain, the river is high and rough causing the mud to be stirred and creating brown water. The black lines are the bridge rails.

As we were walking towards the festival I took these photos.

I assume this is a pod for blooms, on this tree.

The rest of the tree had these.

A bush with new growth.

Dandelions

Purple flowers that grew at the base of most of the brick walls.

Different purple flowers

Daffodils

A tree with white flowers. This type of tree smells like fish...no kidding.
