Day 305

After bothering this spider for several minutes, I managed to get one decent photo. It keeps making new webs on this window. My daughter noticed a moth was freshly caught in the web and the spider was there waiting. I saw an already wrapped prey in the web. This was very difficult to photograph, as this is obviously night time and flash reflects harsh on windows. I'm surprised how well the photo came out...not perfect, but the web, spider and wrapped prey are visible.

Day 303

Today we went to a park with a nice play ground, for Alex to play on. Later, as we were leaving the house to head to Balliceaux for a League of Space Pirates performance, we saw a huge spider web by the security light.

Day 293

Alex pointed out several spiders that have made our windows their home.

Day 291

Since we didn't have power, I went to my parents' house to charge my computer, camera and cell phone. After they had finished charging, dad showed me the damage near the house.

This tree fell in between their house and a neighbor's. It fell over the drive way of the next neighbor. By the time that I saw it, someone had cut it up to unblock both driveways. There was a pile of trunk cuttings and a large root ball. There was so much debris, that I didn't want to risk falling on the acorns to get closer to the root ball.

There were acorns and berries scattered on the ground. This cluster of acorns was in a triangle.

In the evening, at our house, a red spider was making a large web on a lower window. However, my camera had a lot of trouble photographing it clearly, so the color of the spider and detail of the web showed nicely. Also, it was a quick moving spider. This is a photo of it resting after finishing the web.

Day 290

The morning after the tropical storm, the ground was covered in debris from the trees. There was even a leaf clinging to living room window. Later in the evening, there was a large insect caught in a spider web. One of the large spiders was staying by the roof waiting for it to die. Unfortunately, it wasn't dead when the spider descended and the spider was thrown by the insect while it spun in a panic.

Day 279

Today, I watched for interesting things out of my living room window.

Seeing a butterfly is a rare treat. This Yellow Swallowtail stayed on the crape myrtle branch for a few minutes.

Later in the evening, I noticed two large spiders descend from my roof. There are lots of spider webs around the windows and on them. These two are definitely responsible for some large ones.

The bright dip in the clouds was actually pink.

Day 275

I was greeted by a small green spider when I went to my car and a new position of the crape myrtle branches when I returned home. The branches bend when there is rain.

Day 270

While laying on the couch and gazing out the large windows, I noticed debris in the spider webs. I thought it was insect bodies from left over meals. Upon close inspection, it was flower petals, buds, dirt and a spider.

Day 264

I was greeted by this little lizard, while getting out of my car. It ran off before I could take a better photo.

As dusk approaches, I like the sharp contrast of the things against the sky.

I saw this spider hanging off the gutter.

Day 203

Today, I noticed this plant had grown flowers. The leave shape and two toned colors are beautiful.

Day 189

Today, I wanted to photograph a few of the many caterpillar eaten leaves of the trees. I had a few surprises too.

While looking for broken leaves in my garden, I noticed this spider.

When we got in the house, our favorite backyard squirrel, ran up the crape myrtle tree and peeled off the shell of this walnut. Then, it ran along a branch of the holly tree to chew it in privacy. However, Alex showed me a direct area, to photograph it nibbling. If you look closely at it's nose and whiskers, you will see black bits from the shell.

Day 179

Today was Alex's birthday.

I had been getting bug bites inside my house, since we came home. Today, I saw this spider. I squished it after taking it's photo. After that, I haven't been bitten again, inside the house.

After Alex came home from school, we headed to the playground for some swinging. The sun was shining brightly, so I took some photos of the leaves back lit by the sun.

Day 111

Today, I was working on projects.

On the way back from the bus stop, with Alex, I noticed there were three crows in the trees along our path. We stopped, so I could photograph them.

Two had flown away, so I had Alex walk towards the last, a bit, so I could photograph it flying.

I noticed another flower starting to come out of the ground.

At night, Pippi (our cat) likes to play "Pippi vs. Moth" and frantically follow the moth along the window as it flies. Tonight, there were three moths, so she was extra frantic.

Up close, these are a lot freakier looking than in real life. They didn't like the red focus light or the flash.

All the flashing light, annoyed this spider, that came out to see what was going on. Upon using the light on it, it ran off to hide. Yes, there is this funky spider web on our window. The dots are paint splatter from the painters that came a few months ago.
