Day 417

Today, John and I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art while the Scalin family headed to a different museum and the Eastern State Penitentiary. On the way to our destination, we came across a small butterfly garden. There were two wrens being noisy. After observing them, I realized it was a mother bird feeding a baby bird bread. Behind them were tall lilies and even taller sky scrapers.

Also in the garden were a few beautiful pigeons. The photograph doesn't capture the irridecent purple and teal of their wings.

Later, before we headed to dinner with the Scalin family, rain started pouring down. This is our hotel window.

The rain had stopped by the time we returned back to our hotel room. The clouds were breaking up, which allowed the full moon to shine through.

Yesterday, we went to our friends' house for a monthly cook out. While there, we found a baby praying mantis. Our friends have several hens. These are two of the feathered ladies.

Day 397

Despite the snow the other day, we've had a mild Winter, which means the flowers bloomed early. We've also had more birds around, which is always nice.

Today, we woke to snow. We had large chunky snowflakes for about an hour. School closed. The snow was all melted by 10am. Silliness.

Day 327

Today, there were a couple crows closer to me as I was walking to the bus stop. At the bus stop, there were many of them flying quickly above the trees. I managed to photograph two. The sky was a beautiful  overcast.

Day 315

Today, some of the crows were eating crushed nuts in the parking lot. They wouldn't let me get very close without flying off.

Day 282

Today we went to Busch Gardens theme park.

Rescued eagle
This is one of 5 that live at the park. They were rescued after being injured in the wilderness. They can't fly anymore, due to the injuries, so they live in the park. The park houses many rescued and adopted animals.

Day 260

I decided to get a closer look at the birds on the back balcony. Unfortunately, the camera wouldn't focus on the baby birds. I was able to photograph the mom. While trying to photograph the babies, they flew out of the nest. They were fairly large, so they were ready to leave the nest.

The sun was casting shadows of the Crape Myrtle on the window. I tried to line up the shadows with the piece of the tree that was creating the shadow, by moving my camera at different angles.
