Day 407

Today, we saw a wild rabbit in our back yard. I love it's amazing eyebrows and overall adorableness. I took a short video of the rabbit, and a squirrel. I don't normally film things and I have no clue how to edit videos, so be thankful it's short.

Day 384

Today, I sat down on my couch, and noticed my squirrel neighbor was perched in the crape myrtle, eating a nut.

Day 380

Today, my squirrel neighbor (her nest is above her in the tree) came to hang out for a few minutes. She seemed nervous and was shaking her tail swiftly. She's not threatened by me, so I will assume there was a cat or hawk in the area.

Day 340

There have been a lot of nuts falling from the trees. They are scattered over the ground, much to the delight of the squirrels and chipmunks.

Day 326

There has been a large amount of soft green moss growing in the asphalt cracks and along the wooden beams of the pathways.

This of course is a squirrel. While a wren bopped around too fast to photograph nicely, I noticed this watchful squirrel in the holly tree.

Day 314

I noticed the monkey grass had sprouted purple flowers. There are a few black eyed susans still alive. Of course, the squirrels were very active this morning. Two were chasing each other around and went into this hollow in a tree where a branch broke off.

Day 308

Today, I saw two squirrels playing. One was holding a nut in it's mouth as it frantically ran around. Eventually, it settled on the tree upside down to eat it's nut.

Day 307

I noticed berry like buds growing on the Cherry Blossom trees. The leaves are starting to change colors. By the cherry trees, was a thick blanket of various nuts. Of course, there were a lot of squirrels enjoying the bounty.

Day 282

Today we went to Busch Gardens theme park.

Rescued eagle
This is one of 5 that live at the park. They were rescued after being injured in the wilderness. They can't fly anymore, due to the injuries, so they live in the park. The park houses many rescued and adopted animals.

Day 227

Today I took a few photos at Pocahontas State Park when I picked Alex up. On the way over the river, to dinner, I took a photo of the river while John was driving.

Day 189

Today, I wanted to photograph a few of the many caterpillar eaten leaves of the trees. I had a few surprises too.

While looking for broken leaves in my garden, I noticed this spider.

When we got in the house, our favorite backyard squirrel, ran up the crape myrtle tree and peeled off the shell of this walnut. Then, it ran along a branch of the holly tree to chew it in privacy. However, Alex showed me a direct area, to photograph it nibbling. If you look closely at it's nose and whiskers, you will see black bits from the shell.

Day 177

Today we woke to a thick fog. After a few hours, the fog started to lift.

This is at about 9:45am.

Since, rain ruined our fun yesterday, we headed back to Brookgreen Gardens today. We focused on the garden area.

Ferns are growing on the break of the oak trees.

The squirrels here are larger than the ones at home.

These flowers varied in colors.

Lily

I love how the thick leaves of this plant cradled the water from the rain and created rounded drops.

These vines were growing through each hole of this wall.

Ivy was growing all over the bottom of this tree meeting the Spanish moss from the top of the tree.

There was a whole section of trees like this.

Moss growing between the stones of a walkway

Many fountains and pools of water had water lilies and pads growing in them.

Last year, we visited in August and there were HUGE grasshoppers there, called lubbers. This year, we visiting in May and the lubbers were still tiny. However, we found them in large clusters.

Bubbles occurred naturally from a small waterfall.

There were several turtles on this circle. I liked the turtle with it's feet dangling and the one with it's feet tucked in. John and Alex let me take lots of photos of the turtles, close to the pond, before reading the "Beware of alligators and snakes" sign. Thankfully, we saw none of those.
