Today, I sat down on my couch, and noticed my squirrel neighbor was perched in the crape myrtle, eating a nut.

Day 308
Today, I saw two squirrels playing. One was holding a nut in it's mouth as it frantically ran around. Eventually, it settled on the tree upside down to eat it's nut.

Day 307
I noticed berry like buds growing on the Cherry Blossom trees. The leaves are starting to change colors. By the cherry trees, was a thick blanket of various nuts. Of course, there were a lot of squirrels enjoying the bounty.

Day 291
Since we didn't have power, I went to my parents' house to charge my computer, camera and cell phone. After they had finished charging, dad showed me the damage near the house.
This tree fell in between their house and a neighbor's. It fell over the drive way of the next neighbor. By the time that I saw it, someone had cut it up to unblock both driveways. There was a pile of trunk cuttings and a large root ball. There was so much debris, that I didn't want to risk falling on the acorns to get closer to the root ball.
There were acorns and berries scattered on the ground. This cluster of acorns was in a triangle.
In the evening, at our house, a red spider was making a large web on a lower window. However, my camera had a lot of trouble photographing it clearly, so the color of the spider and detail of the web showed nicely. Also, it was a quick moving spider. This is a photo of it resting after finishing the web.

Day 290
The morning after the tropical storm, the ground was covered in debris from the trees. There was even a leaf clinging to living room window. Later in the evening, there was a large insect caught in a spider web. One of the large spiders was staying by the roof waiting for it to die. Unfortunately, it wasn't dead when the spider descended and the spider was thrown by the insect while it spun in a panic.

Day 72
I went over to my parents' house to drop off Alex for a sleep over and to have dinner. Before dinner, I went outside to take photos.
I went to throw something away and noticed all the acorns covering this part of the driveway. There had to be thousands of them. Squirrels don't go hungry in their yard.

Day 57
Today is about the little things. The things we miss if we aren't close up to it, looking for them.
This is a downy feather left by one our wild bird neighbors.

I like the veining in this leaf. One odd thing I noticed, is little hairs at the ends of some leaves of different varieties. Some even had little hairs covering the leaf. Very odd, but these are the sort of things you notice when you look closely at nature.

I'm not sure what kind of nut this is, but I like the cracks in it. There are nut shell bits all over the ground in this area. We have lots of squirrels and chipmunks. This is probably their doing.

This is a creeping vine that is along large portions of the yards.

Day 42
Since the birds had decimated the berry supply, I decided to take photos of the after math.
